The Stray Dog

Long Distance Adventure Cyclist

There is pleasure and peace in being solitary on the road. I can hear only my own breath and the ambient sounds – birds, animals, the wind passing me. There is much for me to see, but after a while, I turn into myself, and reflect on my experiences and my life. The lack of distractions (people, noises, cell phones) provides time for to me to think, and find myself.

At this point in my life, approaching 70, I look forward to the quiet and the chance to reflect. I also love being on the bike, the speed and the feel of the air over my skin. The simplicity of the moment is what appeals to me, and drives me on.

The chance to be in a remote place, on my own, is unequal to anything.
